log files to check:
MPSetup.log - This log shows you the status of the actual MP installation
MPControl.log - This log shows you if the MP is working correctly
MPGetauth.log - For further troubleshooting
MPRetry.log - For further troubleshooting
Basic Troubleshooting Steps:
1) Run http://sms_mp_servername/.sms_aut?mplist
- This returns MP information
2) Run http:// sms_mp_servername /.sms_aut?mpcert
- This returns a long list of numbers and letters
3) Run the MP Troubleshooter from the SCCM Toolkit V2
4) Verify that the DTS Service is enabled.
5) Verify that the Task Scheduler is enabled.
6) Verify that the Windows Management Instrumentation service is running.
7) Verify that the SMS Agent Host service is running.
8 ) Verify that the World Wide Web Publishing Service is running.
9) Verify that the MP machine account has been added to the
SMS_SiteSystemToSQLConnection_ group.
10) Ensure BITS is installed
11) Ensure WEBDAV is enabled and setup correctly (more config required if 2008 server)
12) Deinstall the MP and IIS, then reinstall IIS and the MP.
Remove the MP role on the server.
Disable IIS. Remove completely. Reboot the server.
Verify that the DTS Service is enabled.
Verify that the Task Scheduler is enabled.
Verify that the Windows Management Instrumentation service is running
Enable BITS, enable WEBDEV and install IIS.
Verify that the World Wide Web Publishing Service is running.
Verify that the MP machine account has been added to the
SMS_SiteSystemToSQLConnection_ group.
i) Enable MP role on the server.
